The Hindi Language

Location: South and Central Asia Prior Study Required: None

Hindi is used extensively in government, media, education, and the entertainment industry. It plays an important role in communication across northern and central India and in diaspora communities worldwide. Hindi proficiency supports U.S. engagement with one of the world’s fastest growing major economies and a region of expanding U.S. trade and security interests. CLS participants study Hindi while developing an understanding of how it functions across different regions and contexts in India.
