Jahnavi Kirkire

Jahnavi Kirkire participated in the 2024 CLS Hindi Program hosted by the American Institute for Indian Studies (AIIS) in Jaipur, Rajasthan. She is pursuing a J.D. at the University of Virginia Law School and recently graduated from the University of Maryland at College Park. She hopes to work in international law and use her Hindi skills to contribute to global diplomacy.

Why Hindi?

I applied for CLS Hindi in order to use it more professionally and to understand how it could improve my ability to serve as a linguistic and cultural bridge between the United States and India.

A Favorite Idiom

My favorite word is one I don’t recommend going around and calling people. The word is chudail, or witch!

Career Goals

I plan to go to law school and then work in international law - hopefully using Hindi to communicate with Hindi speakers globally.

CLS’s Impact

CLS helped me not only meet some incredible people but also helped me get into law school!
